CLUNY in the Caribbean "The

Holy Will

of God"

We are

The Sisters of St Joseph of Cluny, a group of women consecrated to the Lord Jesus and working in the Church of the Caribbean.

Our Missions

are in  the islands of Dominica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Grenada, Tobago and Trinidad and in every continent throughout the world.

Our Life

is inspired by the example of our foundress, Anne Marie Javouhey.  Our consecration is expressed in public profession of the vows of Poverty, Chastity and Obedience, and lived in community.

Our Roots

are in the 18th Century French Revolution when as a young girl, Anne Marie Javouhey heard the call to teach the faith, to defend the defenceless and to bring the Word to peoples outside of Europe. She was one of the first women to establish missions in Africa. In the New World, she is known as the Liberator of the Slaves, the Mother of the colony in Mana, French Guiana. Our Sisters arrived in the English speaking Caribbean from the French island of Martinique in 1836.  Our first foundation was at Port of Spain, Trinidad.
